A Special Summer Visitor

The museum had a visitor earlier in the summer just before Canada Day. Museum staff were surprised when looking out into the museum parking lot between the station and the Venosta rail car to spy a Bald Eagle. The eagle had apparently bagged a seagul and had taken it in the parking lot. Now while it might be an act of violence it is a part of the natural order of things and I believe it to be something special to see such a majestic creature visiting our museum. Even while in a large metropolitan region, we are still on the edge of wilderness that is capable of supporting a broad variety of wild creatures including Bald Eagles.
