Canada Day & Golden Spike Days 2010


Visit the Port Moody Station Museum July 1st to 4th 11am to 4pm for free family activities. Win a prize for finding the golden spike in our popular Golden Spike scavenger hunt. Cool off while you watch old fashioned train comedy from the Three Stooges and Little Rascals. See our 1886 model train display in action then create your own train or take turns dressing as a train conductor and engineer. Stop by and see the Telegraphers' Society for a crash course in Morse code. Free Canada Day cake on July 1st.

Model Train Enthusiast

Summer Event Volunteers - 2009


Hello everyone,

It’s great weather and time to have some fun events at the Museum. Below I’ve listed the events, dates and volunteers we would like to have for each event. Most of our events are free to the public. The hot dog stand helps us pay for the cost of the event. I know it’s not glamorous but it helps keep us going. Please contact me if you would like to volunteer or if you have any questions. Thanks for all your support!

Canada Day - Wednesday, July 1st 10:30am-4:30pm

Volunteers needed:

  • Model train enthusiast to who can run and talk about a model train.

Anniversary of the 1st Passenger Train - Saturday and Sunday, July 4th & 5th 11am-4pm

Volunteers needed on Saturday:

  • 4-6 people to help with crafts and games for kids
  • 1 person to grill hot dogs from 11:30-1:30
  • 1 person to grill hot dogs from 1:30 -3:30
  • 1 person to sell hot dogs from 11:30-1:30
  • 1 person to sell hot dogs from 1:30 -3:30

  • 4-6 people to help with crafts and games for kids

Happy Canada Day!

To Everyone From The Port Moody Heritage Society

Join us today for

"The End of a Perilous Journey"

July 1st 10am - 4pm (Sunday)

Join us as we take visitors back 62 years so that they may experience what things were like as the Second World War was nearing its end. Entertainment, concession, military displays and vehicles, British Columbia Regiment Pipes and Drums, Burma Star Veterans Association to name only a few participants.

A "Parade" of digntaries will be arriving shortly after 10am.

The Official Welcoming Ceremony starts at 11am

The lineup includes:

  • 15th Field Artillery Regiment brass band
  • BC Regiment Association pipe band
  • Consul General from France, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Korea
  • Military vehicles: Canadian army scout car - two Bren gun carriers - halftrack - World War I replica biplane
  • Large photo display from the Dutch government
  • Artwork and poetry readings from Glenayre elementary school's French immersion classes
  • Dawn Black, NDP MP for New Westminster-Coquitlam with her display on Afghanistan. She'll be collecting Tim Horton's coupons for the troops.
  • Displays in the Venosta: 12th Field Jericho garrison's medical unit - the Hong Kong Veterans' Association - the Air Force Association of Canada - the Burma Star Veterans - the Nursing Sister's Association.
  • Members of the Royal Engineers Living History Society will be on hand dressed in period uniform from the 1880's and re-enact Col Moody and the engineers arriving in Port Moody
